Can the Key Be Cut, Cloned, or Programmed at Your Home or Work?

Yes, in many cases, key cutting, cloning, and programming can be done on-site. However, please note the following considerations to ensure a smooth process:

Important Considerations for On-Site Key Services:

1. Time and Precision:

• Key cutting, cloning, and programming require attention to detail, and rushing the process can lead to errors. Please plan for adequate time when I arrive. I cannot guarantee a specific timeframe, as each vehicle and key type can vary.

• No watching or time frame pressure: To ensure the best quality work, it’s important that the process is not rushed. I kindly ask that you avoid watching or setting strict time limits for the job. Instead, plan to relax or take a short walk while the work is being completed.

2. Complex Laser-Cut Keys:

• For more complex laser-cut keys, these cannot be done on-site and will need to be cut in my workshop. If your vehicle requires a laser-cut key, I will advise you to bring the vehicle to my workshop, or I can arrange for the work to be completed at a time that suits both of us.

3. Cloned Keys:

• Cloning a key is a quick and convenient way to create a spare, but keep in mind that it’s an exact duplicate of the original key. Cloned keys are best used as spares, as using both the original and cloned key simultaneously can cause issues with the vehicle’s system. If you need a key for daily use, a separate programming service will be required, which costs £50 to £80 more per key.

4. Space to Work:

• For safety and accuracy, I need adequate space around the vehicle to work comfortably. If the location is too tight or restricted, it may not be feasible to complete the key programming on-site. Please ensure there is sufficient space for me to access the vehicle fully.

5. Internet Access:

• For certain vehicles, an internet connection may be required to access the vehicle’s system or download programming software. Please ensure that internet access is available on-site, or we can arrange to meet at a location where this is possible.

6. Plan Ahead:

• I recommend planning a walk to the shops, grabbing a coffee, or taking a break nearby while I work on your vehicle. This ensures I can focus on delivering the best possible results without interruptions.

Workshop Appointments

For complex key cutting, such as laser-cut keys, I will need to complete the work at my workshop, which is fully equipped for these tasks. Please note that there isn’t space for customers to wait in the workshop, but you’re welcome to explore nearby amenities while I complete the job.

Just a short walk from my workshop, you’ll find Manor Walks Shopping Centre, which offers a variety of shops, including Costa Coffee and multiple indoor stores, where you can relax while I work on your vehicle. If you prefer a longer break, the Cramlington Train Station is nearby, providing easy access to Newcastle if you want to enjoy a few hours in the city.

What If My Location Isn’t Suitable?

If your location doesn’t meet the requirements (e.g., no internet, limited space, or complex key type), I may suggest completing the job at my workshop, where I have the full range of equipment and resources needed. I will always discuss this with you ahead of time so you know what to expect.
